The importance of prayer in the lives of Christians is one of the great lessons that the church learns from the Jewish people.  The model prayer that Christians call "The Lord's Prayer" is but a condensed version of various ancient prayers that Jesus and His Disciples prayed in the temple and synagogues of Israel.  One powerful image that the Jewish people have long used to demonstrate the importance of prayer is the prayer shawl (tallit).  The Tallit's history dates back to their first fulfillment of God's commandment that they attach fringes tot he corners of their garments so that they may remember His instructions and fulfill them.  They prayer shawl today remains as a symbol that as Jesus said, "Men should always pray and not give up" (Luke 18:1).
